Transportation Steering Committee Becomes Baltimore Regional Transportation Board
(July 31, 2000 - Baltimore, MD) The Transportation Steering Committee (TSC), which has been the federally-designated metropolitan planning organization (MPO) for transportation in the Baltimore region, has changed its name. According to bylaws adopted on July 25, the transportation planning group is now the Baltimore Regional Transportation Board (BRTB).
"The new name reflects the status of this group as an independent body responsible for regional transportation planning in the Baltimore area," said Baltimore County Executive C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger. Ruppersberger was elected to a one-year term as chair of the BRTP. Voting members of the BRTB include the Mayors of Annapolis and Baltimore; the executives of Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Harford and Howard counties; the president of the Carroll County Board of Commissioners; and the secretary of the Maryland Department of Transportation. Non-voting members include the secretaries of the Maryland Department of the Environment and Maryland Department of Planning.
BRTB meetings are open to the public.
