BALTIMORE (July 14, 2011) – The Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) has requested that the Baltimore Regional Transportation Board (BRTB) add $1.9 million to the 2011-14 Transportation Improvement Program. The federal funds will be used for Preliminary Engineering on the 1.7 mile stretch of U.S. Route 40 between Middle River Road and MD 43. Baltimore County has been working with SHA to improve safety and traffic operations in this area.
The proposed improvements include resurfacing the roadway, replacing the median jersey barrier with an aesthetically treated divider, landscaping, and bicycle and pedestrian improvements. These improvements will enhance safety and result in a more attractive corridor.
