Transportation Improvement Program Project Database Guide
Welcome to the online Transportation Improvement Program project database. The TIP project database gives the public access to previous projects and to the proposed transportation projects in the Baltimore metropolitan area. Included with the projects are funding requirements, a map detailing the location of the project (if appropriate) as well as the status from the previous TIP.
To access this database, click on this link http://bmc.baltometro.org/tips_web/login2.asp. You will be presented with a login page, requesting a login id and password. Use the word "guest" as the login AND password (this field is case sensitive; make sure your Caps Lock is off). Click the Login button and the TIPS web site menu items are displayed. There are four (4) menu items that are accessible:
Projects
This menu item will display a list of proposed TIP projects for several reporting periods. The project list can be sorted by clicking on the header you desire to sort the list on, clicking the same header will toggle between ascending and descending order. Also, within the frame, a search button allows users to search for specific projects based on certain field entries (more on this later!). To access the detail on a project, click on the project id.
When the project displays, tabs are available above the detailed project information to retrieve data on funding, a map graphic (if available/applicable) and amendments. To access any of this information, click on the tab hyperlink.
Project Master Information
Clicking this tab displays the detail information for the selected project. Use the arrows next to the project id as an easy way of retrieving the next or previous project.
Project Cost Information
This tab displays the funding for the project. If a project is receiving funds from more than one source, use the dropdown tab labeled "Funding Source" to select other funding sources or view a summary of all funding sources.
View Project Map
If a map graphic is applicable to the currently selected project, this tab will display the map.
Amendments
Displays a listing of amendments (if any) to the current project as well as a status button to view the status of the amendment (No amendments for proposed projects.)
Searching for Projects
A search page is available to search for projects on a specific field by clicking the search button at the top of the project listing page. Most of the searchable fields are dropdowns, where users may search on a specific data item for the field, but users may use the "wildcard" (asterisk) character to pattern match the title, description or justification fields.
For example, if you want to search for projects in Carroll County that contain a title that starts with the word "little", select Carroll County in the jurisdiction drop down and type "little*" (without the quotes) in the title box, then click the search button. Any projects matching the criteria will display in the project list format.
You may search the title, description or justification field to find a word anywhere in the field by placing a asterisk before and after the word. For example, if you want to find I-95 anywhere in the title field, type *I-95* in the title field text box. Once you have completed a search, you may select one of the projects to view the details, or, if you want to perform another search using different criteria, simply click the Search button at the top of the listing.

Regionally Significant Projects
This menu item will display a listing of the regionally significant (these projects do not use federal funding) projects for the area. Like the project listing above, this listing may be sorted by clicking on the project headers. To display the details of a specific regionally significant project, click on the project hyperlink.
Project Status
There is now a drop down menu on the main project page that provides three lists: All Active Projects, Currently Requesting Funding, and No Funding Requested (On Hold). This helps to delineate between projects being funded in this TIP and those that are in between funding stages. Projects with No Funding Requested (On Hold) are also shown in red.
Reporting
The reporting web pages allow users to run report templates that exist on the system, or, users may create their own reports that will display in a Microsoft Excel format in your web browser. Users may enter criteria on fields to limit the data reported.
