Plan It 2035

Like many urban areas in the country, the Baltimore region has an extensive transportation network — including highways, city streets, suburban and rural roads, bus lines, train tracks and bicycling paths. All of these modes of transportation have one thing in common: they help people and goods get where they need to go.

Plan It 2035 - the next Long-Range Transportation Plan for the Baltimore Region - was approved by the Baltimore Regional Transportation Board (BRTB) on Monday, November 14, 2011.

Plan It 2035 was developed with local, state, and federal agency transportation professionals, area business leaders, community advocates, and many other interested stakeholders. Key steps of the planning process were:

Final Plan - On Monday, November 14, 2011 the BRTB voted to approve Plan It 2035, which sets aside nearly $11.5 billion worth of projects to expand our current transportation system, $24 billion to operate the existing system, and $9.4 billion for system preservation. Call for Projects - Plan It 2035 includes a variety of projects that add to or enhance our existing transportation system. These include transit, bicycle, pedestrian, and highway and interchange projects. The BRTB also includes projects that help the system function more efficiently.
