Goals for Plan It 2035
|
Plan It 2035 Goals Plan It 2035 - the next long-range transportation plan for the Baltimore region - will outline the ways the region plans to invest in the transportation system in the future. Federal law requires that each metropolitan area’s long-range transportation plan be updated every 4 years. Three years have passed since the latest plan – Transportation Outlook 2035 – was approved. Therefore, it’s time for us to take another look at the region’s transportation systems and the challenges facing our region, now and over the next twenty-five years. The BRTB will also consider how to best allocate funding to meet the region’s transportation needs and challenges. One of the first steps the BRTB has taken in this process is to write goals for Plan It 2035. Development of the draft goals included a review of the current plan goals, as well as drawing upon a wide range of inputs and resources. These include: Public comments from two public review periods; Public input from the imagine 2060 initiative; Input from the various BRTB committees, including the Citizens Advisory Committee and the Technical Committee; and The six Livability Principles of the U.S. Departments of HUD / DOT / EPA. On October 26, 2010, the BRTB approved the final goals for Plan It 2035. Each of the 8 goals include a number of strategies to meet the goal.
