! Impaired driving and motorcycle fatalities are equally high in the Baltimore region.
! In 2008, 231 people died in crashes in the Baltimore region – that’s nearly 39% of the total fatalities in Maryland.! In 2008 2,077 people were involved in pedestrian and bicycle crashes in the Baltimore region. That accounts for 57% of the statewide total for pedestrian and bicycle crashes. The number of pedestrian and bicycle fatalities was 39% of the total statewide.

The Traffic Safety Analysis Division of the State Highway Administration’s Office of Traffic and Safety has compiled a series of fact sheets on crashes for the Baltimore region and the entire state for the past several years.

During the Street Smart Pedestrian and Bicycle Campaign the following data was collected and analyzed to target education and enforcement efforts.
