Improving US 40: Middle River Rd to South of MD 43Amendments to FY 2011-2014 Transportation Improvement Program
The MD State Highway Administration requested an amendment to the 2011-2014 Transportation Improvement Program to add a new project.
Baltimore County is working with the State Highway Administration to improve safety and traffic operations along sections of US 40. $1.9 million will be directed to Preliminary Engineering for the 1.7 mile stretch between Middle River Road to south of MD 43.
The improvements will include resurfacing of the roadway, replacement of the median jersey barrier with an aesthetically treated divider, landscaping, and bicycle and pedestrian improvements. These improvements will improve safety as well as result in a more attractive corridor.
On Tuesday, August 23, 2011, the BRTB voted to approve Resolution #12-3 in support of the Improving US 40 amendment.
