Drive Safe Baltimore

Initiated by the Baltimore Metropolitan Council's Board of Directors, www.DriveSafeBaltimore.com was created to promote a variety of safety campaign initiatives.  Currently, the region is partnering on the followoing safety campaigns:

  • Street Smart - This regional safety campaign began in the Fall of 2009 and includes public education, behavioral change, and enforcement efforts to raise the awareness of the rights and responsibilities of drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists to look out for one another on the roadway.  Find out more about Street Smart...

  • Distracted Driving - This regional safety campaign focuses on raising awareness of the dangers of distracted driving. It was aimed at educating parents of teens in 2009 and teens in 2010.   Learn more about the Distracted Driving Campaign

  • Save a Life! Put the Cell Phone Down & Drive Safely Work Week - On Friday, October 1, 2010, Maryland's new cell phone law goes into effect.  This new law prohibits handheld cell phone use while driving - only hands-free devices are allowed. The start of this new law also tied into Drive Safely Work Week. Help spread the word about Maryland's cell phone law...
