Transportation Planning Division Prepares for 2000 Census
This spring, BMC staff will be working with our member jurisdictions and the U.S. Census Bureau to develop a new Transportation Analysis Zone (TAZ) structure for the Baltimore region. A TAZ is the geographic unit used for transportation planning, travel demand modeling, and air quality conformity analyses.
In 2003, the Census Bureau is scheduled to release commuting and socioeconoomic data collected as part of the 2000 Census. Using the new TAZ structure, BMC's Transportation Planning Division will be able to use this data to produce better traffic, transit and air quality forecasts for the Transportation Steering Committee.
