Pedestrian and Bicycle Access to Rail Stations

The Baltimore Regional Transportation Board published "Access to Rail Stations in the Baltimore Region" in August 2011. This report updates the information in the Maryland Transit Administrations "Access 2000" report that was published in 1997. The 2011 document includes:

• Demographic profiles of each jurisdiction
• Profiles of each rail station, including transit lines served, routes, schedules, station/stop amenities, and usage data
• Conditions affecting all transportation modes near each station: traffic controls, signage, lighting, medians, lane widths
• Conditions and deficiencies related to pedestrian access within a 0.6-mile radius of each station: crash locations, sidewalks, crosswalks, and paths
• Conditions and deficiencies related to bicycle access within a 3.0-mile radius: crash locations, on- and off-road facilities, drainage outlets, parking, racks, lockers

The report also includes basic recommendations and preliminary cost estimates for access and safety improvements on state and local roads and pedestrian facilities at and around each station.
