2018-2021 TIP Amendment

BRTB seeks public comments on I-695, at Cromwell Bridge Road, drainage improvement project

BRTB to update 2018-2021 Transportation Improvement Program

Open for Public Review

The Baltimore Regional Transportation Board (BRTB) welcomes comments through Monday, September 25, on updates to the 2018-2021 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) for the I-695, at Cromwell Bridge Road, drainage improvement project.

The BRTB is scheduled to vote on the amendment on Tuesday, September 26 at 9 a.m. Details of the amendment and comment period are below.

The 2018-2021 TIP is the list of regional transportation projects requesting federal funding in the near term. It includes more than $3 billion in proposed federal, state and local money for highway, transit, bicycle and pedestrian projects during the next four years. The funding goes towards maintaining, operating and expanding the transportation system. The TIP is fiscally constrained.

Amendments occur to the 2018-2021 TIP because of changes to project scope and funding or changes to federal documentation policies. Public comment periods and meetings aim to keep communication open regarding these changes.

The State Highway Administration (SHA) requests of the BRTB to update the 2018-2021 TIP to include a new project, the I-695, at Cromwell Bridge Road, drainage improvement (TIP ID # 63-1801-38). The project requires its own TIP sheet because the total cost now exceeds $10 million, and must be included as a major project in the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) Consolidated Transportation Program.

The project will restore the stream channel, repair SHA drainage outfalls and outfall channels, construct stormwater management facilities to provide water quality treatment, and relocate the Baltimore County sewer line.

This amendment provides a total of $9.548 million in federal funds and a total of $2.387 million in matching funds in FY 2018-2021, with an additional $1.520 million from previous fiscal years. The total cost of the project is $13.455 million.

TIP Sheet

The public review period runs from Thursday, August 24, through Monday, September 25, 2017. The BRTB invites the public to learn more and/or share comments on this project.

Comments are welcome during the Public Comment Opportunity at the BRTB meeting on Tuesday, September 26 (scheduled vote), at 9 a.m. To share your thoughts and ideas, send all comments in writing to:
