A. Jurisdiction: lists the jurisdiction for the traffic count data that can be selected.

  • Anne Arundel County
  • Baltimore County
  • Baltimore City
  • Carroll County
  • Frederick County
  • Harford County
  • Howard County
  • Montgomery County
  • Prince George’s County
  • ALL 
B. Station Type: lists the different sources of the traffic count data that can be selected.

  • SHA: All Maryland State Highway Administration traffic counts
  • BMC: All Baltimore Metropolitan Council traffic counts (includes select Local Government traffic counts)
  • SHA-Program: Maryland State Highway Administration traffic counts collected on a 3 year cycle.
  • SHA-Permanent: Maryland State Highway Administration traffic counts collected at a set location using permanent equipment.
  • SHA-Special: traffic counts done by request of another party.
  • ALL: Search all traffic count sources
C. Station: Unique number given to each traffic count location

D. Search Phrase: a tool used to find a traffic count along a particular road name, e.g. PRATT to find traffic counts along Pratt Street in Baltimore City.

E. Traffic Counts Selected: lists the traffic count locations that match the criteria provided in steps A thru D.

  • Jurisdiction: County or City
  • Sta: Station Number
  • Rte: Route Number
F. Google Map: a Google Map of the traffic count location selected in step E.

G. Volume (48 hr): number of vehicles that pass a certain point on a road in a 48 hour period.

  • MSMT Date: Measurement Date; the date the data were collected.
  • Day of Wk: the day of the week the date were collected.
  • Direction: the cardinal direction of traffic flow (East, West, North or South) in which the data was collected.
Volume (Annual): number of vehicles passing a certain point on a road in a 48 hour period and then adjusted to an annual average.

  • Year: year the traffic count was taken.
  • RAW ADT: Average Daily Traffic, average number of vehicles passing that point in a day (not adjusted for weekly or annual fluctuations).
  • AADT: Average Annual Daily Traffic, average number of vehicles passing that point in a day (adjusted for annual fluctuations).
  • AAWDT: Average Annual Weekday Daily Traffic, average number of vehicles passing that point during a weekday, Monday thru Friday (adjusted to reflect weekday traffic).
I. Class Volume (48 hr): 48 hour volume count classified by the type of vehicle, e.g. passenger vehicle, heavy truck (listed below).

  • Measurement Date: the date the data were collected.
  • Dir: Direction: the cardinal direction of traffic flow (East, West, North or South) in which the data was collected.
  • MTR CYC: motor cycles
  • CAR: passenger vehicles
  • 2Ax4t: other 2 axle vehicles
  • BUS: buses
  • 2Ax6t TR: 2 axle, 6 tire, single unit trucks
  • 3Ax TR: 3 axle single unit truck
  • 4+Ax TR: 4 or more axle single unit trucks
  • 4-Ax TR: 4 or less axle single trailer trucks
  • 5Ax TT: 5 axle single trailer trucks
  • 6+Ax TT: 6 or more axle single trailer trucks
  • 5-Ax MTT: 5 or less axle multi trailer trucks
  • 6Ax MTT: 6 axle multi-trailer trucks
  • 7+Ax MTT: 7 or less axle multi-trailer trucks
  • OTH: other vehicle
  • UNK: unknown vehicle
