Maps and Data
The Baltimore Metropolitan Council collects, maintains, analyzes and reports on data from numerous sources. Council staff also create maps of all kinds, showing political and other boundaries (for example, census tracts), displaying demographic trends, and illustrating various statistics, such as commuting patterns, location of new housing units, and traffic travel speeds.
Some of the data and maps are included in reports that can be found on our publications list. Statistics from the 2000 census, demographic forecasts, and community profiles are offered at no charge on the web site.
Building PermitsWe provide annual building permit data in summary form, and offer subscriptions to the monthly printed reports and to an online database for the most up-to-date and complete permit information available.
Customized Demographic ProfilesIf you need demographic information for any location in Maryland, even for unique geographic areas like circles, corridors and polygons (bounded by whatever streets you want) consider using our Data Plus service. Modest fees are charged for this service.
Customized Mapping and Geospatial ServicesCould you use a map to demonstrate an important concept, or to display the location of your customers or service points? The Baltimore Metropolitan Council offers a full range of geospatial services. Our staff possess substantial cartographic and graphic design expertise to create professional maps tailored to your specifications. Fees are charged for this service.
Interactive MappingInteractive mapping allows you to navigate, explore, manipulate and customize BMC spatial data. BMC staff has compiled this information and has developed planning tools for use by municipal officials, planners, engineers, and other members of the public.
