Maps and Data

BMC's Web Mapping

The Baltimore Metropolitan Council now provides data in a format that can be displayed using Google Earth.

Some of the data you can view are:
  • Travel speeds on regional highways
  • How bicyclists grade individual local roads
  • Major recently-issued building permits
  • Long range transportation plan projects
  • Aerial photos of congested areas

Why Google Earth™?

  • Google Earth’s functionality allows BMC to overlay data on its high-tech landscaped interface for a cutting edge presentation.
  • Data files are quite small and can be quickly downloaded.
  • Tours can be exported to video and played using Windows Media Player.
  • Customized tours can be designed to meet client’s needs.
To display BMC data in this new format, you will need to download and install Google Earth™ and one or more BMC data files on your computer. There is no charge for the data files and Google Earth is free for personal use.
