Transportation Outlook 2035BRTB Invites Public Comments on Revisions to Transportation Outlook 2035
The Baltimore Regional Transportation Board (BRTB) has released a revised draft of the Executive Summary of Transportation Outlook 2035, the long-range transportation plan for the Baltimore region, for public review and comment. Between now and Tuesday, November 13, residents of the Baltimore region will be able to view the document at www.baltometro.org, in the Regional Information Center at the Baltimore Metropolitan Council (2700 Lighthouse Point East, Third Floor, in the Canton area of Baltimore City), in key public libraries, and in all local planning offices.
FTA ANNOUNCES FOUR RULEMAKINGS
400 Pages of Draft Guidance to Review
In the September 28 Federal Register, FTA released the proposed guidance:
  • Capital Program: Grant Application Instructions, 
  • Grants Management, 
  • Third Party Contracting, and 
  • A combined Metropolitan Planning Program and Statewide Planning and Research Program

The comment period for each of these guidances are different so check out APTA's SAFETEA-LU Rulemaking and Notices page.

MTA's ADMINISTRATOR IN THE NEWS
Paul Wiedefeld Interviewed in MassTransit
In the October issue of MassTransit, MTA's administrator discusses the issues of having to deal with different modes of transit all in one system. Read what he has to say about the Maryland Transit Administration.
 
CENTRAL MARYLAND TRANSPORTATION ALLIANCE
Otis Rolley, III, Heads New Transportation Advocacy Group
Central Maryland Transportation Alliance (CMTA) is a new multi-sector collaborative dedicated to promoting a world-class transportation system for Central Maryland.

CMTA will advocate for the development and implementation of a comprehensive and innovative transportation plan; CMTA will act as a convener of diverse interests; advisor to city, county, state, and federal officials; and coordinator of advocacy efforts for short and long-term transportation strategies.
BUS AND MOTORCOACH ACADEMY
United Motorcoach Association and College of Southern Maryland launched the Academy
The Bus and Motorcoach Academy offers courses aimed at owners, executives and managers in addition to a full line of continuing education classes to assist drivers develop skills needed to become managers. To read more about the Academy, go to the article in Metro.
