Applications Due Soon
Applications for Job Access and Reverse Commute and New Freedom Grants are
due to BMC's offices by 2 pm on November 16th. If you are interested in
applying, but were not at the application meeting on October 2nd, you can
download an application from the Maryland Coordinated Transportation
Plan.
Projects must come
from the Coordinated Public
Transit-Human Services Transportation Plan for the Baltimore Area. The plan can
be downloaded at Baltimore Area

Requests for Proposals for Demonstration Grants
The National Center on
Senior Transportation (NCST) is soliciting proposals from aging/human service
agencies, tribal organizations, faith-based organizations, units of state and
local government, public and private transportation providers and other entities
interested in developing and implementing innovative approaches to increasing
senior transportation options and improving older adult
mobility.
Successful
projects will be collaborative, replicable, and consistent with senior
transportation-related goals of the national United We Ride initiative of the
Federal Transit Administration.
The goals are to:
Ø Increase transportation options for older
adults
Ø Simplify older
adults' access to transportation services
Ø Increase the
quality of transportation services for older
adults
Successful applicants will
receive grant awards ranging from $50,000 - $90,000 and 24 months of
individually tailored technical assistance. Higher or lower amounts may be
awarded based on specific proposals.
Proposals are due by 11:59
p.m. Eastern Standard Time on Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, and should be submitted
electronically via e-mail to twilson@n4a.org or using the online form
which can be reached through the center's Web site. Electronic or online
submission is preferred but hard copies will be accepted. Hard copy of the
proposal must be received on or before Dec. 17, 2007.

CAPITAL GRANT OPPORTUNITY |

Elderly Individuals and Individuals with Disabilities
Capital Grants Available
MTA is in the process of preparing the applications material for FTA's
Section 5310 Grants. Section 5310 Grants are for capital items
for not-for-profit organizations that serve E lderly Individuals or Individuals
with Disabilities. The solicitation for applications will be in early December
with the Baltimore regional kick off meeting on December 10th at BMC's Offices, 2700 Lighthouse Point East,

Jane
Holtz Kay to Speak
An upcoming
presentation by enVISIONing Annapolis will be held at 7 p.m. on
Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at The Boys & Girls Club, Bates Heritage Center,
121 South Villa Avenue.
Speaker Jane Holtz Kay, architectural critic for The Nation and
renowned author of Asphalt Nation, will lead a conversation on "Cars
vs. People: Transportation in Annapolis?"
Jane Holtz Kay will discuss the economic, emotional, and physical gridlock
caused by cars in American cities and propose ways to get where we need to go
without destroying where we live.
All "Conversations" are free and open to the public. This series of public
Conversations is sponsored by enVISIONing Annapolis Foundation, St. John's
College, and Annapolis Charter 300.
