MARYLAND TRANSIT ADMINISTRATION EXPLORING NEW TECHNOLOGIES
Testing EMP Mini-Hybrid on Older Buses

MARC Locamotive EngineThe Maryland Transit Administration has been testing the EMP mini-Hybrid thermal system on six buses as a way to cut down on maintenance costs for older vehicles. The system is designed to cut maintenance costs and increase fuel economy up to 10%. According to the report, the annual fuel savings alone should cover the cost of the systems in 2.3 years.

For more details, read the article in the March 2010 issue of MassTransit under the Maintenance Matters section by Jon Berle.
