CENSUS DAY IS THIS THURSDAY - APRIL 1, 2010
Take 10 minutes to answer 10 questions
Census 2010The U.S. Census - an effort to count every resident in the country - is well underway and Census Day is this Thursday, April 1!

Completing your Census form helps ensure that the Baltimore region gets its share of federal funding for essential services. That's more money for our neighborhoods, schools, roads, public safety, the environment and more.

Please, take 10 minutes today to fill out the 10 Census questions.  Then, after you mail in your form, contact 10 people and urge them to fill it out.  It's easy, it's important and the information you provide is safe and confidential. As a region, we move forward when you send back the form.

TEEN DISTRACTED DRIVING VIDEO CONTEST
Seeking teens interested in helping to stop their friends from driving while distracted!
Texting Teen Video ContestEver been in a car when the driver's busy texting instead of driving?  That's distracted driving.  Scary.

We all know about drivers who answer the phone, text someone, or fix their hair while driving down the road. Maybe you've even been that distracted driver. But do you know that recent studies show that drivers under the age of 20 have the highest proportion of distracted driving fatalities at 16%?

That's why we're challenging all teen drivers in schools in the Baltimore region to show us their best ideas about how to stop distracted driving.

Entries must be posted by April 23, 2010 and winners will be announced by May 14.
IMAGINE THE BALTIMORE REGION IN 2060
Upcoming process will ask residents to look 50 years into the future
Get involved in the Vision processTransportation changes affect everything and everyone. That's why the Baltimore Regional Transportation Board is happy to invite area residents and organizations to participate in the first of a series of public workshops to develop a vision for the future of transportation in Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford, Howard Counties and Baltimore City.

Workshop participants will be invited to share their values and ideas about how future transportation projects can help improve the quality of life in the region.

The sum of these values and ideas will serve as a guide for investments in the 2011 long-range transportation plan that will support economic, environmental, and mobility priorities in the Baltimore region. Over the coming year, the BRTB will engage the public in a regional conversation about the future and how the regional planning process can achieve this vision.

Check out the BMC web site for dates and locations, to be announced next week. If you can't make it to the workshops, we still want your input. Check our web site in April for a survey. Your input is important to us!
