The Request for Proposals (RFP) solicits proposals from qualified
consultants (or consultant teams) to update Action Plan 2001 - a
Plan for Bicycling and Walking in the Baltimore Region. The
purpose is to continue to improve conditions for bicycling and walking
in the region through assessment and refinement of Action Plan 2001.
The assessment will consider the goals and performance measurements in
the original document. Refinement will focus on the goals and
performance measures as well as the route network.
People on bikes, people walking - interacting - these are indicators
that a city, town or community is healthy, vibrant and working.
Through education, lobbying, and advising our government officials, we
are lifting the barriers to realizing the power of these basic human
modes of travel. Our goal is to enable bicycling and walking to
flourish as vital facets of our daily routine and our overall
transportation system.
The Maryland Department of Transportation announced that it is
currently accepting new project applications for Transportation
Enhancement Program (TEP) funding. The Department is soliciting
applications for projects that will be able to proceed to construction
or implementation within 24 months. Projects awarded TEP funding will
be expected to follow all State and federal requirements.
Aiming to connect all the major cities of the East Coast along a
continuous, off-road path, the East Coast Greenway spans 2,950 miles
from Calais, Maine to Key West, Florida. With the trail now 21 percent
open for public use, individuals and communities all along the East
Coast are already beginning to enjoy the Greenway's many health and
economic benefits. But still, there's much to be done.
