Bike
to Work Day 2008, sponsored by the Baltimore Metropolitan Council,
will be celebrated in the Baltimore region and across the nation on
Friday, May 16, 2008.Between 7 and 8:30 a.m. on May 16, bicycle commuters will converge on locations throughout the region - including Annapolis, Bel Air, Baltimore City, Towson, and a new location in Columbia! Register today to be eligible for prizes! The first 500
registrants will receive a free T-shirt and the first 225 registrants
will receive a free T-shirt and mussette Bag.

Sheila Dixon and the City of Baltimore invite you to imagine the
opportunities of Baltimore's proposed Red Line at the Red Line
Community Summit held at the Baltimore Convention Center on
Saturday, May 10, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Registration and continental
breakfast begin at 8 a.m. As the Red Line moves into its final planning stages, Mayor Dixon wants to leverage every possible opportunity to make the Red Line work for our communities. This means focusing not just on where the line will run and where stations will be located, but more importantly how the Red Line fits into our communities, generates jobs, economic opportunities and affordable housing, and protects our unique urban environment and historic districts. dem Parks, Hon! annual bike ride. Tour dem Parks is a major fundraising event focused on supporting groups and organizations dedicated to improving Baltimore's Park system. The event provides friends and families with an opportunity to ride together and discover little-known treasures in the city. This year, the event features four routes, all beginning and ending in Carroll Park:

Susquehanna River and Chesapeake Bay, with Route 40 Hatem Bridge
crossing services for cycling groups. Groups are provided with over-bridge transportation, a secure and comfortable tour base, and complimentary auto or bicycle parking. Additional services include road and cruiser bikes in child, youth and adult sizes - each equipped with available safety gear including approved helmets, bells, reflectors and reflective paint, locks and baskets/racks. the Baltimore Bicycling Club on Saturday, September 6, 2008 in
Thurmont, MD for their 8th Annual Civil War Century Bike Tour. The Civil War Century cycling event has everything -- famous historical sites, breathtaking scenery, low-traffic roads, and well-marked routes designed for every ability level. As in the past, you can visit the South Mountain and Antietam or Gettysburg battlefield sites -- or all three of them if you elect to ride the full century -- while cycling through some of the most beautiful countryside east of the Mississippi.
SB 492, which empowers the head of the Maryland Transportation Authority to authorize pedestrians and bicyclists to use MdTA bridges, has passed both houses of the Maryland legislature unanimously and awaits the Governor's signature.
