GIVE CLEAN
COMMUTING A TRY THIS MONTH |
May is Clean Commute Month. So, for a few days in
May, keep your car parked. Try another way to get around. It's not
hard!
You can take transit, bicycle, or even walk. If you do drive, share
your ride with a friend or co-worker, and make sure to keep your car in tip-top
condition. By clean commuting, you could cut your commute costs
dramatically.
Join us at a number of events around town and find
out how you can save time, money, and stress by leaving your car parked. You can
ride your bicycle to one of this year's Bike to Work Day rallies, visit our
displays at an upcoming festival, or attend a free car care clinic and learn how
to keep your vehicle running as cleanly as possible.

CHOOSE
SAFETY FOR LIFE |
Each year in Maryland, more than 630 people die in
traffic crashes - most, if not all, caused by at least one poor decision.
In fact, 93% of all traffic crashes are caused by driver error.
Everyday in everything you do, there are important choices to be
made. The road is no exception. When you go... where you go... will you walk,
drive, bike or use mass transit? The choice is yours, but most importantly in
all the choices you make...
Choose Safety for Life. It's as simple as
following the rules of the road:
- Buckle up.
- Slow down - speeding
kills.
- Always drive sober.
- Focus.
- Everyone share the
road.
Choose Safety for Life is a public safety campaign
that seeks to educate drivers, pedestrians and cyclists to join Maryland
partners in reducing traffic crashes. By making the right choices,
you can save lives and prevent injuries.

| HOW GREEN IS THE BALTIMORE REGION?
|
Can the choices you
make in daily life - how to get from place to place, where to shop, learn, relax
and have fun, what to consume, when to reuse or recycle - make a difference?
Absolutely.
Baltimore Green Map will help you to find eco-opportunities
in your neighborhood and around our region. Using the international Green Map(R)
System Icons, this interactive map shows Baltimore's ecological and cultural
resources and our city's progress toward becoming a healthy, sustainable urban
environment.
Visit Baltimore Green Maps to find out more about
sustainable living, the region's natural resources,
cultural and historical sites, and other area resources that
promote equity and involvement.
Baltimore Green Map is an
ever-evolving project, including a beta version of the online map, print maps,
events and activities. View current sites and resources or nominate your
own!
