2 BILLION TAX DOLLARS. WHERE
IS IT GOING?
BRTB Invites the Public to
Submit Comments on Proposed Transportation
Projects
Over $2 billion dollars worth of transportation
projects and improvements are being proposed in a new draft transportation
program, released for review by the Baltimore Regional Transportation
Board.
The final draft of the 2009-2012 Transportation Improvement
Program (TIP) for the Baltimore region contains a list of transportation
priorities and projects for which federal funding will be requested over the
next 4 years.
Join us at a Public Meeting A public
meeting on the Final Draft 2009-2012 Transportation Improvement Program and the
Draft Air Quality Conformity Determination will be held on Tuesday, September
16, 2008 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Baltimore Metropolitan Council.
The
public is invited to review and comment on the final draft list of projects
submitted for the FY 2009-2012 Transportation Improvement Program.

FOR NEW CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEMBERS
Several slots opening up for January 2009
term
The Baltimore Regional
Transportation Board (BRTB) is currently seeking volunteers representing a
diverse cross section of area residents and interest groups for participation on the Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC).
The primary role of the Citizens Advisory Committee will be to enhance
citizen and public involvement in the transportation planning process.
Additionally, members will receive regular updates on the planning
process and be able to discuss planning issues.
The CAC is an appointed
committee of the Baltimore Regional Transportation Board. Members will serve a
three-year term, starting in January 2009.

COMPETENCE AND CONFIDENCE A BICYCLING GUIDE FOR
ADULTS
The Maryland
Department of Transportation has created a 16 minute bicycle safety video that
provides many valuable tips for cycling in traffic on public roads.

PARTICIPATE IN THE SAVE-A-LIMB BIKE RIDE
 Join celebrity Tour de France veterans Floyd Landis and Bob Roll
for the 3rd Annual Save-A-Limb Ride on Sunday, September 28th at Oregon Ridge
Park in Cockeysville, MD.
The Save-A-Limb Ride will feature three different ride
through Maryland's Countryside: a Metric Century ride, 30 miler, and 6 mile
family fun ride. Proceeds from the event will go to the Save-A-Limb Fund, a
nonprofit established with the goal of advancing patient care and support in the
fight to save limbs from amputation and to preserve joints. Following the
Save-A-Limb Ride there will be a picnic and carnival, featuring Bob Roll as
MC.

50 STATES 13 COLONIES BIKE RIDE - OCTOBER

States The most unique and challenging bike ride in DC! This 60+
mile ride is for cyclists experienced and comfortable with riding through the
city streets with traffic. The 50 States ride covers all 50 state streets in all
8 Wards in search of the District of Columbia's statehood. Often been referred
to as "brutal," "insane," and "engrossing." You have not seen the city of
Washington by bike until you have done the 50 States Ride.
13 Colonies Not quite as challenging as the 50 States
Ride, but equally as enjoyable. Ride on all the streets named for every one of
the 13 original colonies. This ride is a little under 15 miles and is also for
cyclists who are comfortable with riding on city streets with
traffic.

DISCOVER THE HIDDEN
TREASURES OF BALTIMORE
BY BICYCLE- OR -BY FOOT
Wednesday September 10, 2008 | 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Pedal or walk Baltimore's 3 stream valleys the Herring Run, the
Jones Falls and the Gwynns Falls and discover hundreds of acres of parkland,
historic mills and trails.
The 15-mile Gwynns Falls Trail connects two
thousand acres of parkland passing Carrie Murray Nature Center as well as cool
urban industrial areas. The 4.25 mile Jones Falls Trail continues to be
designed and constructed through the center of the city and passes an 18-hole
disc golf course and the Maryland Zoo. The Herring Run Trail is in initial
design phases. Learn about tucked away gems, places to stop along the way and
fun facts.
The clinic will be presented by
Anne Draddy and Mike Strawbridge, of the Baltimore City Recreation and Park
Administration.
