Transportation Planning
Transportation is not just roads, buses and trails. Our transportation system affects the quality of our lives in many ways beyond the time we spend commuting. The efficiency of the local and regional transportation network affects many aspects of our lives.
As the federally designated Metropolitan Planning Organization for the Baltimore region, the Baltimore Regional Transportation Board is responsible for coordinating the transportation planning process in a six-jurisdiction region.
Millions of dollars are allocated each year for the region's transportation system. The MPO is responsible, in cooperation with the state, for carrying out the urban transportation planning process in the region. This process includes the private sector and the public.
