Directions to BMC Using Transit

The Baltimore Metropolitan Council is located on the third floor of Lighthouse Point East, in the 2700 block of Boston Street (photo of the building).

The most direct service is on the Maryland Transit Administration's bus routes 11 and 13, which run on Boston Street.

Route 11 (schedule, map) runs between Towson and Canton (Boston Street at Clinton) and passes the BMC at Lakewood Avenue. In the downtown area it runs south on Maryland Avenue (one block west of Penn Station), Cathedral Street, Hopkins Place, Sharp Street, and then east on Pratt Street (returning on Lombard and Charles). Exit the bus at the stop named "O'Donnell" (actually Boston and Lakewood) and walk east on Boston to the building with West Marine and Blockbuster on the first floor. BMC is on the third floor.

Route 13 (schedule, map) runs between Walbrook Junction and Canton (Clinton and Toone) directly on Boston Street, with stops just to the west of Lighthouse Point.
This is called the Fells Point branch of the service, and is so designated in the sign in the front of the bus. There is also a Canton branch which terminates at the same place (Clinton and Toone, approximately 5 blocks or 1/2 mile east) but approaches from the north. If you get on a 13 bus marked "Canton," you will have to walk the 5 blocks west on Boston Street from the terminus.

Route 13 Fells Point travels along North Avenue, Wolfe Street, Fleet Street to Boston Street, returning via Fleet, Washington, and North. Exit the bus at the stop named "O'Donnell" (actually Boston and Lakewood) and walk east on Boston to the building with West Marine and Blockbuster on the first floor. BMC is on the third floor.

MTA has two large scale (pdf) transit maps on its web site. After you open one, you can zoom in to see more detail: Region / Downtown

Below is a summary of the service offered on the two routes and their connections to rail service. All transit access to Lighthouse Point is from the west, since both bus routes terminate five blocks east of our site and are unlikely to draw from that direction.
