Transportation Outlook 2035 |
Like many urban areas in the country, the Baltimore region has an extensive transportation network — including highways, city streets, suburban and rural roads, bus lines, train tracks and bicycling paths. All of these modes of transportation have one thing in common: they help people and goods get where they need to go.
A great deal of money and time goes into maintaining and improving these modes of transportation. As a result, it is the responsibility of the Baltimore Regional Transportation Board to update the plan every four years.
The current Long Range Plan - Transportation Outlook 2035 - was completed in November 2007 and is intended to guide spending for transportation programs and projects for the next twenty years.
Learn more about Transportation Outlook 2035 Transportation Outlook 2035 was developed over a two-year period and involved several local, state, and federal agency transportation professionals, area business leaders, community advocates, and many other interested stakeholders.
Key steps of the planning process are:
New! Amendment to Transportation Outlook 2035 - An additional $340 million has become available as a result of a revenue enhancement package passed by the MD General Assembly. In response to public input and amid concerns about escalating costs, the BRTB has determined that the additional funds should be directed toward a combination of short- and long-term transit projects. Have your say about what kinds of projects should be funded!
Demographic and Socio-economic Projections - Planning a transportation system for generations to come is a complex task. How many people will live here? Where will they work? What kind of transportation service will they want and need? Project Submittal - Check out this list of bicycle/pedestrian, highway, management and operations, and transit projects. All have been submitted by the local jurisdictions for inclusion in Transportation Outlook 2035. Project Costs and Funding Availability - The projects listed in the draft plan are a carefully selected mix that takes into account the level of resources that can reasonably be expected to be available. Public Outreach and Engagement - Find out how you can get involved in the planning process for Transportation Outlook 2035. Join us at a public meeting or sign up to receive our e-newsletter.
The BRTB has released the final version of Transportation Outlook 2035, the long-range transportation plan for the Baltimore region.
