We are working toward cleaner air!
We all have an interest in cleaning up our air quality in the Baltimore region. We do not currently meet federal air quality standards for ground-level ozone or fine particulates (fine soot). The federal standards for these pollutants were created to protect the health of the public, as well as for other reasons, such as improving visibility.

Air pollution can cause or aggravate a variety of health problems. Ground-level ozone and fine particulates can damage respiratory systems and cause other serious health problems in sensitive populations. In addition, fine particulates can increase rates of cardiovascular illness and may reduce life span.

We all can do something for cleaner air. In these pages, you will find more information about air quality, its relationship to transportation, what individuals and businesses can do to improve the air quality, and ways you can get involved.
