The Baltimore Metropolitan Council (BMC), the regional planning organization for the Baltimore area, is seeking a transportation planner to perform a variety of professional duties related to policy planning. Typical duties include: - conducting research and analysis;
- developing components of multi-modal transportation long-range plan and companion elements;
- conducting performance measures and various types of highway and transit evaluations;
- being responsible for guiding complex tasks from initial design and work scope development through completion / implementation;
- assisting in developing policy recommendations in concert with federal, state and local agencies;
- working with committees to develop consensus on various issues; and
- documenting and communicating with public and government officials.
Candidates must possess strong communication skills as well as good organizational, oral and written skills, especially the ability to convey information clearly and concisely to a variety of audiences. Strong self-motivation and the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment are also necessary. At a minimum, a Bachelor’s Degree is required in Transportation, Planning or a related curriculum, plus four years of responsible experience. A Master’s Degree may be substituted for one year of experience. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The BMC is an EOE/M/F/H.
