Transportation Planner/Engineer (Modeler)
The BMC is a private, non-profit planning entity in the Baltimore Region. The organization’s primary function is to support the Baltimore Regional Transportation Board (BRTB), the metropolitan planning organization (MPO) and its regional transportation planning activities. BMC also provides support to member local governments in several other areas including procurement, reservoir protection and water quality, sustainable community planning, and workforce development
BMC is seeking a full-time planner or engineer with interests in applying travel simulation tools in support of decision making.
The BMC technical planning staff develops and maintains an aggregate Trip Base Model and state of the art disaggregate household, freight, and commercial vehicle Activity Based Model(s). The advanced modeling system’s simulated household, freight, and commercial vehicle tour rosters are integrated with a static highway assignment and mesoscopic Dynamic Traffic Assignment. The SHRP2 L04 scenario generator and trajectory processor are being applied to the region’s modeling system to evaluate a broad range of reliability performance measures.
Communications Associate - Webmaster and Publications
The Baltimore Metropolitan Council (BMC) is a private, nonprofit planning entity in that works with the Baltimore region’s elected executives to identify mutual interests and develop collaborative strategies, plans and programs that help improve the quality of life and enhance economic vitality. The organization’s central function is to support the Baltimore Regional Transportation Board (BRTB) - the metropolitan planning organization (MPO) - and its regional transportation planning activities. BMC also provides support to member local governments in several other areas, including: procurement coordination, reservoir protection and water quality, sustainable community planning, and workforce development.
BMC is seeking a full-time Communications Associate to assist in the creation of impactful publications that advance the organization’s message and image and serve as webmaster.
Working with the Director of External Relations and the Communications Officer, the candidate will collaborate on a team responsible for the implementation of the organization’s communications strategy and engagement with the public and partner entities. The candidate must be confident, detail-oriented and able to meet deadlines.
